La Empresa Argentina de Navegación Aérea (EANA) recibió hoy a las 12.05 hs, a través de su Servicio de Búsqueda y Salvamiento (SAR – Search and Rescue) una alerta satelital de una baliza ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter), perteneciente a la aeronave Piper PA-34 Seneca identificada con la matrícula LV-GZK. La baliza ELT es un dispositivo de emergencia que contienen las aeronaves y que se activa al momento en que las mismas reciben un fuerte impacto, brindando al SAR la localización del avión.
En el momento en que recibió la señal de alerta, la EANA activó el procedimiento de búsqueda y dio aviso a la policía de Quemú Quemú, en la provincia de La Pampa, que es la localidad más cercana a las coordenadas del lugar de activación de la ELT. A las 14.10 la policía de Quemú Quemú encontró la aeronave LV-GZK, confirmando el accidente y el fallecimiento de sus cinco tripulantes. Confirmado el accidente, el SAR notificó de manera inmediata a la Junta de Investigación de Accidentes de la Aviación Civil (JIAAC), que es el organismo competente para determinar las causas de los accidentes e incidentes ocurridos en el ámbito de la aviación civil. Un equipo de investigadores de la JIAAC ya se encuentra en camino al lugar del accidente y en forma paralela ya se están coordinando las acciones con el juzgado interviniente.
La aeronave con matrícula LV-GZK había despegado del Aeródromo de San Rafael y volaba con destino a Tandil. Fue fundamental para la rápida localización de la aeronave la baliza ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter), lo que hizo posible que el Servicio SAR se active de manera inmediata.
